Let's discover Ichnusa

Updated: Jul 6, 2023

Ichnusa= Sardinia

An island that cannot be visited in 3 days, a millenary culture, a varied and spectacular territory.

Sardinia is very diverse, the people and customs vary from region to region.

The distance and the difficulty of crossing it meant that people from the same region developed different habits and the region was very diverse from a gastronomic and oenogastronomic point of view.

Life on the coast is different from life in the Sardinian hinterland.

To admire the beauties of central Sardinia, from villages with people who live even a hundred years (The blue zones) we recommend the little green train.

There are only 5 blue zones in the whole world, including our magnificent Sardinia, the island of centenarians, a true paradise on earth of longevity!< /p>

What are blue zones?

Blue Zones are demographic and/or geographic areas of the world where life expectancy is well above the world average. The concept arose when scientists Gianni Pes and Michel Poulain published their demographic study of human longevity in Experimental Gerontology. The study found that the province of Nuoro in Sardinia has the area with the highest concentration of centenarians in the world. To continue the work, the scientists traced a series of blue concentric circles on the map, marking the areas of highest longevity, hence the term "blue zone".

Which and where are these blue zones?
Sardinia, Italy. In particular, in the province of Nuoro, the hilltop villages of the sub-region of Ogliastra and Barbagia di Ollolai. A group of demographers have identified an area with the highest life expectancy in inland mountain villages, where males are exceptionally likely to live to 100.
The island of Okinawa, Japan. Here we examined a group of individuals that are among the longest-lived in the world.
Loma Linda, California. Researchers studied a Seventh-day Adventist congregation whose members are among the longest-lived in all of North America.
Nicoya Peninsula, Costa Rica. The peninsula has been the subject of longevity research since January 2007.
Icaria, Greece. In April 2009, a study conducted on the island of Ikaria found that the percentage of people in their 90s is the highest in the world. Almost every third resident of the island reaches the age of 90.

The most enduring cities in Sardinia.

Ogliastra has been identified as the area with the highest concentration of male centenarians. In Ogliastra, the centers included in the blue zone with a high number of centenarians are: Strisaili, Arzana, Talana, Baunei, Urzulei and Triei. In the province of Nuoro, the centers identified in the blue zone are Tiana, Ovodda, Ollolai, Gavoi, Fonni, Mamoiada, Orgosolo and Oliena. All belong to the Barbagia di Ollolai. In the province of Southern Sardinia, on the other hand, the blue zone can be found in a single village, Seulo. Capital of the Sardinian sub-region of Barbagia di Seùlo of the same name, the latter has counted 20 centenarians in the last 20 years, confirming itself as "the longest living country in the world".

What makes discovering places and knowledge even more fascinating is seeing them. Being there makes everything different than just seeing it in a photo.

Sardinia is not only Costa Smeralda, Villasimius and Chia.

As De Andre' said:“Living in Sardinia is perhaps the best thing a man could wish for: 24,000 kilometers of forest, countryside, coasts, nestled in a wonderful sea, should match what I do would recommend.” May the good Lord grant us paradise.
